Celebrating school spirit through illustration, collaboration, and lasting visual identity.

About the Project

In 2022, I designed the yearbook cover and SHSM (Specialist High Skills Major) logo for East Northumberland Secondary School during my 12th grade year. I worked closely with the school’s art teacher and head planners, attending regular meetings to ensure the designs aligned with the school’s vision. For the yearbook, I had full creative freedom and chose to create a hand-drawn illustration of the school’s mascot, incorporating school colors, thoughtful kerning, and strong typography. For the SHSM logo, I produced multiple mockups and collaborated with teachers to refine a design that best represented the program’s goals and identity.

Outcome

Both designs were officially adopted and used throughout my graduating year. The yearbook cover became the face of our final high school memories and was also featured in graduation materials and infographic displays. The SHSM logo became a visual marker for the school’s specialized program. This work contributed to my receiving the school’s Arts Award, recognizing my contributions and dedication to creative excellence.
