This commissioned piece for author L.H. Blake brought one of her pivotal book scenes to life through rich characterization, mood, and attention to detail. Using a combination of digital painting and character-driven composition, I focused on capturing the emotional tension between the framing at the top of a shadowy staircase to reflect the story’s darker, romantic themes. I drew from the author’s detailed references and visual inspirations to build a scene that felt both cinematic and intimate, emphasizing body language, lighting, and setting to enhance the narrative. This project pushed me to explore new stylistic territory while staying true to the tone and atmosphere of the book.
